‘The vocal acrobatics of Silva test the physical limits of language’ (The Wire)
Award winning writer, maker of radio, sound poet and vocal artist who is known for her innovative and virtuoso vocal performances. Her debut album ‘Talk in a bit’ (‘18) was unanimously received with rave reviews and The Wire included it amongst the best albums of last year. Aside from the declaiming of socially critical poetry in an entirely unique way, she has created a technique with rhythmic and chaotic sound articulations. She is influenced in this by the cut-up technique of William S. Burroughs and – her great idol – punk poet Kathy Acker. Silva fragments words and syllables in such a way that they become an avant-gardistic palette of sounds and grooves. Unique and amazing.
