Resident Advisor: ‘Amnesia Scanner takes modern club music to absurd levels.’
Two Finns, Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala, form the brain behind the abrasive Amnesia Scanner. The duo is based in Berlin, considers itself to be a performing art collective, and runs both an experimental design studio and a production house. Their schizophrenic, science-fiction ambient is fed by their vision of technology and the way in which it influences our current lifestyle. On their single ‘AS Choas’ they combine the English and Mandarin vocals of Pan Daijing with a computer voice that they call ‘Oracle’. This combination of human voices and ‘Oracle’ forms the common theme through their psychedelic-influenced debut ‘Another Life’.
Pitchfork: ‘Music this uncomfortable is rarely so euphoric.’
